KERRY YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR PROGRAMME AND AWARDS (THE PROGRAMME)

Terms & Conditions

Qualification of Participants

You must be aged between 15-23 years of age on 1 September 2008 to participate in the Programme.
The Programme is open to all second and third level full-time and part-time students who are attending and/or registered with a School, College or University which has a learning centre in County Kerry.

How to Register

To register for YEP Kerry, you must complete the on-line registration form in full, found at www.youngentrepreneur.ie/programme/register/ by 26th September in the relevant academic year.
By registering with the Programme, you accept the content of our Privacy Statement.
Once you have properly registered with the Programme, you can enter the competition by submitting a Business Plan with financial projections in the approved format to www.youngentrepreneur.ie/submission/ (link available in early 2009) no later than 13th March 2009. The date for submissions of business plans may be subject to change, details of which will be posted on this website.

Each business plan submitted should reflect an original concept produced by you.

How the Competition is judged

Judging of each individual Business Plan submitted by each participant will be based on the allocation of marks as follows:
Full Attendance at:
Blue Sky Day; and
Business Boot Camp; and
Business Plan Workshop

  • cumulatively account for 10%; and
  • Exam – 30%; and
  • Submission and Presentation of Business Plan and Financial Projections – 60%

The judging shall be carried out by the Entrepreneurial Mentor Judging Panel and they will assess each Business Plan submitted and will review live presentations by the short listed finalists.  The Judging Panel will also judge the prize for Best Teacher. The decisions of the Judging Panel will be final.  The composition of the Entrepreneurial Mentor Judging Panel may change from time to time.
Each participant will be awarded a certificate of completion at the end of the Programme.
The date of the award ceremony is scheduled for 30th April 2009 but may be subject to change, which will be posted on this website.
Each participant’s details (including any photos) may be used in any promotional literature or publicity about the Programme.

Prizes

There shall be 4 different categories of winners in addition to the overall winner.
For the Academic Year 2008/2009, the following prizes shall be awarded to the individual category winners:

  • Best Second Level Entry - Apple MacBook
  • Best Third Level Entry - Apple MacBook
  • Best Educator - €1,000 Holiday Voucher
  • The overall winner, the recipient of the Kerry Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and the educator of the winning entry will receive a trip to San Francisco. Separate Terms & Conditions relating to this prize will be available in early 2009.

The overall winner, the recipient of the Kerry Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, will receive a €5,000 cash prize.

Entire Agreement

These Terms & Conditions, including our Privacy Statement, constitutes the entire agreement between you and us in relation to its subject matter and supersedes any and all prior promises, representations, agreements, statements and understandings whatsoever between us. If any provision of the Terms & Conditions is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be unenforceable or invalid, the parties nevertheless agree that the court should endeavour to give effect to the parties' intentions as reflected in the provision, and the other provisions of the Terms & Conditions shall remain in full force and effect. We may cede, assign or otherwise transfer our rights and obligations in terms of these standard terms and conditions to third parties.

Confidential Information

We do not solicit nor do we wish to receive any confidential, secret or proprietary information from you through the Programme website, any of its services, by email, or in any other way. Any information or material submitted by you to the Programme will be deemed not to be confidential, secret or proprietary.
You agree that any information or materials submitted by you to the Programme, whether ideas, creative concepts or other materials, may be used, reproduced and disclosed by us without restriction for whatever purpose we deem fit and without payment of any sum or acknowledgement of you as their source.
You also warrant that any "moral rights" in posted materials have been irrevocably waived by the appropriate authors. WE SHALL HAVE NO LIABILITY FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE SUFFERED BY YOU AS A RESULT OF USE OR DISCLOSURE OF SUCH MATERIALS BY US TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. This term/condition of entry does not affect any rights you may have under data privacy laws that protect your personal information or similar privacy laws, to the extent that such rights cannot be excluded.
